Coverless Review: Thanks to Twilight Pop for sending a complimentary review copy first of all. Now an anthology book is a tough sell in the American comic market. But the quandry for smaller or new indy companies is that it's an easy product to make. Most big time "alternative" comic companies once had their own anthology comics. Dark Horse had two, Oni had one or two, Top Shelf and Drawn & Quarterly had theirs. But the one problem anthologies always have is that some of the material inside will not be as appealing as others. And that holds true with this comic too. There are a couple really solid, really entertaining stories in this book. "On Thin Ice" and "Star Crossed Galaxy" come to mind immediately. "On Thin Ice" being a mystery suspense story, and "Star Crossed Galaxy" being a sci-fi story. What helps these stories is great art. For $2.99 to have two really good stories and a middle chunk of so-so stories, it's really a toss up whether you're getting your money's worth.

I think they would do better to be publishing "On Thin Ice" and "Star Crossed Galaxy" in their own stand alone books, but I know economically it's probably not feasible for a start up company like Twilight Pop Productions.

Nonetheless I would recommend this book whole heartedly because besides the two already mentioned great stories, I can sense that this anthology is pushing for quality and really has the feel like it could keep its standards of high quality for a lengthy amount of time. And if they do I would definitely want to keep abreast of what's happening in this comic.

Overall grade - B+.
